WHERE IS EMMET COUNTY?

Emmet County is located in the northwestern tip of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, on the sunset side of Michigan.

Arriving in Emmet County from any direction is convenient and hassle-free. I-75 is usually the quickest route from the south/southeast; the interstate skirts Emmet County to the east, with access routes cutting across at Gaylord, Vanderbilt, Wolverine, Indian River and Mackinaw City.

U.S. Highway 31 travels into Emmet County from Charlevoix, Traverse City and points southwest, and U.S. 131 intersects into Emmet County from the south-central part of Michigan; it runs directly northward from the Grand Rapids area.

When heading to Emmet County from the North, take I-75 south across the Mackinac Bridge to land in Emmet County.

Airports: Pellston Regional Airport is serviced by Delta Airlines, with flights daily to and from Metro Detroit. Free parking and a one-of-a-kind northern lodge terminal make flying from Pellston beautifully convenient.    (231) 539-8423; pellstonairport.com

A second local airport, Harbor Springs Municipal Airport, provides services and facilities for general aviation. (231) 347-2812.
